How this calculator works
- R-REFUSAL Refusal pairs on drivers are shown first and never folded into the score.
- R-COMPOSITE 2 x (driver A to driver B) + (conductor A to conductor B) + (driver A to conductor B) + (driver B to conductor A); friend +1, neutral 0, opposed -1.
- R-BANDS +6 to +10 Aligned, +2 to +5 Workable, -1 to +1 Mixed, -5 to -2 Strained, -10 to -6 Adverse.
- R-GROUP The weakest pair governs the group verdict. With three or more founders practitioners recommend a company name digit of 5.
- R-LADDER Strained and Adverse pairs get the remedy ladder: re-assign roles, add a compatible third partner, recruit a missing number, individual name correction, rename or a parallel entity, exit.
Not what this tells you. A Strained pair is a role-split instruction, not a verdict on the friendship. Many strained pairs run well once the decision rights are written down.
The reason
The composite doubles the driver-to-driver reading and adds conductor to conductor and each driver to the other's conductor, giving a range from minus 10 to plus 10. Nine driver pairs are refused by practitioners outright (1-8, 2-8, 2-9, 2-7, 3-6, 4-8, 4-9, 4-4, 8-8) and five are contested (3-4, 7-8, 2-4, 2-6, 6-9).
Where the schools disagree
- The 9 by 9 grade grid published by the source disagreed with its own directional table in four cells; this site derives the grid from the table so the two never conflict.

Do I need the founders' names?
No. Dates of birth are enough; names only label the rows.
What is a refusal pair?
A driver pair practitioners refuse for business partnership regardless of the other numbers, such as 1 and 8 or 4 and 8. It sits above the score.
What is a contested pair?
A pair some practitioners refuse and others allow, such as 3 and 4. Shown as a caution, not a block.
Can a bad pair be fixed?
The ladder starts with roles. Most strained pairs settle once the 1 leads, the 2 runs the back office and the 8 runs production, with nobody sharing a chair.
