Business name numerology calculator
Paste up to five names. Each one is counted letter by letter on the Chaldean table, read against Cheiro's compound list, rated as a digit, and, if you add the founder's date of birth and a sector, scored for fit.
Two names that sound alike can sit on very different totals. One lands on 23, the Royal Star of the Lion; the other on 35, the compound practitioners call the ruin number. The founder rarely hears the difference; the arithmetic shows it.
A worked example, computed now
Two spellings of one studio name for a founder born on the 14th, computed now.
| # | Name as counted | Total | Compound reads | Digit | Founder fit | Sector fit | Score |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | VERROW CERAMICS | 50/5 | Good | best | Strong | Strong (84) | 90 |
| 2 | VEROW CERAMICS | 48/3 | Avoid | acceptable | Strong | Advised against (15) | 43 |
| 3 | AURELIA FOODS | 48/3 | Avoid | acceptable | Strong | Advised against (15) | 43 |
Ledger: VERROW CERAMICS
Compound 50: Good. Weight 84. As a name digit, 5 reads best.
Closest upgrade: VERROW CERAAMICS (double the vowel A) reaches 51/6 and scores 95.
Ledger: VEROW CERAMICS
Compound 48: Avoid. Weight 15. As a name digit, 3 reads acceptable.
Closest upgrade: VEROW CCERAMICS (double the consonant C) reaches 51/6 and scores 95.
Ledger: AURELIA FOODS
Compound 48: Avoid. Weight 15. As a name digit, 3 reads acceptable.
Closest upgrade: AURELIA FODS (drop the doubled O) reaches 41/5 and scores 96.
Score = 0.45 compound weight + 0.25 digit rating + 0.15 founder fit + 0.15 sector fit; missing dimensions are dropped and the weights rescaled. Chaldean values, letters summed once, reduced once.
How this calculator works
- R-LETTERS Chaldean values (Cheiro): A I J Q Y 1, B K R 2, C G L S 3, D M T 4, E H N X 5, U V W 6, O Z 7, F P 8. No letter carries 9.
- R-STRIP Entity suffixes (Pvt Ltd, LLP, Inc and the rest) are stripped and the with-suffix total shown as a secondary line. An ampersand counts as AND. Digits count at face value.
- R-COMPOUND The unreduced total is looked up in Cheiro's table (10 to 52) and the practitioner corpus beyond it. Verdict weights: Excellent 96, Good 84, Neutral 60, Mixed 55, Caution 42, Avoid 15, undefined 50 and flagged.
- R-DIGIT As a name digit: 5 best, then 6 and 1; 3 and 9 acceptable; 7 workable; 2, 4 and 8 cautioned unless the sector lifts them (4 for technology, SaaS and digital; 8 for construction, legal, real estate, manufacturing, security and metals).
- R-FIT Founder fit reads the name digit against the driver and the conductor in both directions: both friendly is Strong, one is Supported, any opposed is Clash.
- R-SCORE Score = 0.45 compound weight + 0.25 digit rating + 0.15 founder fit + 0.15 sector fit, rescaled when a dimension is missing; ties break on the compound weight.
Not what this tells you. A good score is a name the numbers support, not a promise of trade. Trademark, domain availability and how the name sounds in your market are separate questions.
The reason
Cheiro's Chaldean table gives every letter a value from 1 to 8; the letters are summed once and the total is read before it is reduced. The compound carries the reading, the digit carries the character, and the founder's driver and conductor decide whether the name is supported. Chaldean numerology treats the compound and the digit as two layers of one name.
Where the schools disagree
- Some practitioners read 8 as the money number; the classical table and most Indian practitioners read it as Saturn's delay. This tool shows the split and cautions 8 as a name digit outside the sectors that favour it.
- The Pythagorean table (switch above) gives different totals; the Chaldean reading leads on this site.
Using this business name numerology calculator by date of birth
The name total on its own says what the name is. The founder's date of birth says whether that name is working with the person carrying it, and that is the question most people are really asking. Put the date of birth in the second field and the same score gains two more dimensions.
Two numbers come out of the date. The day of birth, reduced, is the first. The whole date summed once is the second. The name digit is then read against both of them, in both directions, because the friendship table is not symmetric: a founder can support a name that does not support the founder.
- Both readings friendly is Strong, one is Supported, and any opposed reading is a Clash.
- The clash is not a verdict on the business. It names where the effort goes, and the respelling options show what would remove it.
- Without a date of birth the score still runs; the founder dimension is dropped and the remaining weights are rescaled, so the number is never padded with a guess.
What a date of birth does not change
The compound is the compound. A name that totals 35 totals 35 for every founder alive, and Cheiro's table reads it the same way each time. What the date of birth changes is the fit, not the letters, and this calculator keeps the two apart on purpose so you can see which part of a poor score is the name and which part is the pairing.

Questions founders ask
Which number is best for a business name?
Chaldean numerology has no single best number. 5 has no opposed numbers and is the safest digit for trade; 6 and 1 follow. The compound matters as much as the digit: 23, 33, 41 and 51 are the highest-rated totals.
Do I count Pvt Ltd, LLP or the ampersand?
Suffixes are stripped and shown as a secondary total. The ampersand is counted as the word AND. Count the name people say and see on the signboard.
Chaldean or Pythagorean?
Chaldean by default, as Cheiro set it and as Indian practice follows. The Pythagorean total is offered as a second lens and never overrides the Chaldean reading here.
What if my name lands on a caution compound?
Open the ledger and read the closest upgrade. Name Variants finds respellings within two edits; the report scores three of them and dates the changeover.
Does the founder's date matter to the name?
Yes. The same name reads Strong for a 5 founder and Clash for an 8 founder. Add the date of birth and both directions of the friendship table are applied.
