The 3 by 3 square is filled from the date of birth, the driver, the conductor and the Kua. Each of the eight planes is graded Complete, One short, Thin or Empty, and the missing numbers are named.
A grid with no 5 or no 8 is read by practitioners as weak money management, whatever the earning. The founder feels it as cash that arrives and leaves.

Missing numbers and the traditional remedies
- 3: a green plant scene in the east; a tulsi mala or 5-mukhi rudraksha; wooden objects.
Repeats: 2 x2, 8 x2. A number present three or more times reads as that quality in excess.

Not what this tells you. The grid describes tendencies. A missing number is a habit to build, not a fate.
The reason
The Lo Shu square places 4-9-2 over 3-5-7 over 8-1-6. Rows, columns and diagonals form eight planes; a complete plane operates without effort, a broken one has to be worked at. The site convention adds the driver, conductor and Kua to the raw date digits; the raw convention is available as a toggle.
Where the schools disagree
- Chinese practice fills the grid from the raw date only; Indian practitioners add the driver and conductor. Both conventions are available and labelled.

What does a missing number mean?

What does a repeated number mean?
That quality in excess. Three 5s read as restlessness, three 1s as ego, in the practitioners' shorthand.
Why do the planes matter for business?
The Practical plane is whether work gets finished; Will is follow-through; Silver is accumulation. A founder reads them as a hiring list.
